Cloud Shield is VeloGuardian's filtering layer on our VPN servers. On Shield it blocks ads; on Fortress and Citadel it also blocks known malware and phishing domains. It works at the DNS level, on our servers, so nothing runs on your device. Sentry is the VPN without filtering.
VeloGuardian uses WireGuard, the modern VPN protocol trusted for its speed, simplicity and security. WireGuard uses state-of-the-art cryptography, establishes connections in milliseconds, and has a minimal codebase that is easier to audit than legacy protocols like OpenVPN or IPsec.
WireGuard is one of the fastest VPN protocols available and adds little overhead to your connection. Connections set up in under a second, and the protocol is efficient on both mobile and desktop.

On Sentry, Shield and Fortress we keep no activity logs: no traffic logs and no DNS query logs. Citadel, the business plan, keeps DNS query logs only when the business asks for them, for 30 days, for its own reports. Account and billing data is kept only to run your subscription; see the privacy policy.
